Aerosmith's Steven Tyler has gone on record to announce that he will join "Idol" as a judge, although show producers will not confirm the information. WPIX Channel 11 Reinstates Weekend Evening News

It's hard to keep up with all the changes at WPIX Channel 11 News. The station pulled the evening newscast in June, just one year after it launched. Although an evening newscast was not feasible, management decided that a weekend newscast is a less expensive venture. Thus the 6 PM weekend news will launch on September 11.

In other news stories, ABC Channel 7 will begin the Monday through Friday morning newscast at 4:30 AM starting this week.

Craigslist Blocks Its Adult Services Section

Craigslist owners caved in to pressure from states attorneys general and blocked their adult services section over the weekend. Legal authorities from many states have spent several years petitioning the courts in order to stop Craigslist from peddling prostitution and illegal drugs. One sheriff called Craigslist the largest source of prostitution in the nation.

At least two deaths have resulted from meetings arranged through Craigslist Erotic Services ads. In one case a masseuse was murdered by Philip Markos who committed suicide in prison last month. In March 2009 newsman George Weber was murdered by a teenager with whom he connected through a Craigslist sex ad.

You Light Up My Life writer Joseph Brooks is currently free on bail awaiting trial on charges that he used Craigslist to lure aspiring actresses to his apartment, where he allegedly drugged and raped them. Source

Update

A report on ABC World News tonight said the adult services ads have merely been moved to a different Craigslist heading called "Casual Encounters." The reporter noted that the adult services ads are one of the few for which Craigslist charges a fee. They generate millions of dollars annually; so it's easy to see why they are not going down without a fight.
