What Ever Happened to the Brothers Johnson?
Remember those tall slim goodies George and Louis Johnson better known as the Brothers Johnson? They came on the scene during the seventies with hits like Strawberry Letter 23 and Get the Funk Out Ma Face. One played the guitar and the other played bass. Jet magazine recently did a feature article on the siblings.
The Brothers Johnson got their start playing with Billy Preston and performed on Will It Go Round in Circles with him. They credit mentor and former manager Quincy Jones with teaching them about the music industry. They wrote their own music and Louis Johnson wrote and co-wrote quite a few hit songs for Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney and Michael McDonald. He even co-wrote We Are the World. Remember that?
Both brothers have retired. Thanks to the fat checks they collect for their catalog of songs they don't have to work. Today George, 55, lives in Los Angeles. He has two children. Louis, 53, lives in Minneapolis and has three children.
