Lack of Sleep and High Blood Pressure
Did you know that consistently getting less than seven or eight hours of sleep at night puts you at risk for high blood pressure? This has been demonstrated in various studies that show a correlation between insufficient sleep and heart disease. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure or kidney failure.
Lack of sleep may affect our body's nervous system. Chronic lack of sleep may have a prolonged effect on the cardiovascular system. It's also related to obesity which puts you at risk for Type 2 diabetes. In a prior blog post we noted that a good sleep pattern helps you fight colds.
With so much going for it we need to find ways to incorporate a good night's sleep into our busy schedule. And it's free. Source
