Drug Companies Agree to Medicare Discounts

Pharmaceutical companies are willing to subsidize drug costs for senior citizens. This would reduce the costly out-of-pocket expenses incurred when they hit their annual $2,700 Medicare limit towards prescription drugs.

Once the older adults reach their limit they would still have to pay out-of-pocket expenses but the drug companies would cover half the cost of the drug.

It sounds good on paper but the deal could only take effect if there is broader health care reform. Senate numbers crunchers are not satisfied. One Senator predicted that the proposal will not get enough votes.
