What Ever Happened to Pete Nice from 3rd Bass?

Remember the rap group 3rd base? During the early eighties their music videos had heavy rotation. The most popular was Pop Goes the Weasel which made fun of Vanilla Ice. Peter Nash was the cool white guy waving the cane as he rapped. His moniker was Prime Minister Pete Nice.

Today Nash is a historian and well respected sports memorabilia collector. He is credited with knowing more about 19th century baseball than anyone in the industry. Nash writes books and he helped start Cooperstown Dreams Park where visiting youth teams play tournaments. The New York Times did a glowing feature article on Nash three years ago. At the time he was 39 and his wife had recently had a son.

Peter Nash is in the news once again. This time he's having a good old fashioned street fight with his former business associate Rob Lifson. They're fighting over money that Nash borrowed from Lifson's company in 2005 and 2006. The judge ruled in Lifson's favor and then things got ugly. Nash has accused Lifson of stealing 19th century letters from the New York Public Library. The FBI snatched the memorabilia from the auction block while they investigate. A ruling is expected this month.
