Safe Holiday Shopping on the Internet

Once Thanksgiving is over the Christmas shopping season officially begins. Many of you will shop online so the Daily News published an Internet safety checklist. It provides good advice on how to know whether a website is safe. Lunchtime Traffic posted a similar entry early in the year so we pasted that link as well.

Suggestions
  • Make sure the site provides full contact information.
  • Check the privacy policy.
  • Look for a Better Business Bureau seal, although smaller sites may not have one and some good sites may not yet be accredited.
Consumer Websites
  • Better Business Bureau
  • On Guard Online
  • Internet Crime Complaint Center
Check the first source link to read the full narrative for each of the suggestion bullets and for addresses of the websites listed above. The second link provides information of a more technical nature, related to website security.
