CPSC Approves Juvenile Product Registration Program

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has approved a new measure that will require infant and toddler product manufacturers to establish and maintain a registration card program, in order to provide better recall notification to parents of small children.

The new rules affect 18 product categories including cribs, toddler beds, high chairs, and bath seats. The terms are listed below.

Proposed Terms
  • Provide a postage-paid consumer registration form with each product.
  • Keep records of consumers who register their products with the manufacturer.
  • Permanently place the manufacturer’s name and contact information, model name and number, and the date of manufacture on each product.
