Judge Cites NYC Fire Department for Discrimination
Does it seem strange that black residents comprise 25.5% of New York City's population yet they represent only 3.4% of the NYC Fire Department? That doesn't sound right to a federal judge either.
Justice Nicholas G. Garaufis has ruled that the Fire Department intentionally discriminated against black employment applicants. The judgment remedy must be decided.
