Judge Cites NYC Fire Department for Discrimination

Does it seem strange that black residents comprise 25.5% of New York City's population yet they represent only 3.4% of the NYC Fire Department? That doesn't sound right to a federal judge either.

Justice Nicholas G. Garaufis has ruled that the Fire Department intentionally discriminated against black employment applicants. The judgment remedy must be decided. It could include payment of lost wages to applicants who were denied employment. City officials will appeal the decision. Of course. Check the source link.
