Oprah watchers may know that Gabourey Sidibe of the movie Precious has a mom who's been singing in the New York City subway stations for eighteen years. Alice Tan Ridley was among the first artists featured in what has become MTA's "Performances in Public Places" series.
Mrs. Ridley works at 14th Street Union Square, 34th Street 6th Avenue, and Times Square 8th Avenue stations.
