Chi-Lites Singer Robert Lester Dies

Singer Robert "Squirrel" Lester died of cancer in his native Chicago last month at the age of 67. He was a founding member of the Chi-Lites, the group that brought us seventies favorites like Oh Girl and Have You Seen Her. Beyonce and Jay Z sampled the horns from their hit Are You My Woman for their hip-hop classic Crazy in Love.

The Chi-Lites began their singing career in the 1950s and traveled all over the world performing their music. Another original member Eugene Records died in 2005.

Robert Lester is a native of Mississippi. He is survived by his wife and ten children. We posted links to several related websites. Visit EURweb to watch the Chi-Lites sing Oh Girl on Soul Train. Priceless.
