CPSC Warning: Baby Slings May be Linked to Suffocation
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is advising parents to be vigilant when carrying infants in a sling. The warning was prompted by an investigation of at least fourteen infant deaths which are possibly linked to sling-style infant carriers.
CPSC urges parents of premature babies, twins, babies with fragile health and those with a low birth weight to use extra care, and to consult with your pediatrician about using a sling. Infants from these groups have a greater risk of suffocation.
