Heinz Ketchup to Reduce Sodium
Bad news ketchup lovers. "The slowest ketchup in the West" plans to reduce sodium levels by 15%. Heinz is one of sixteen major food manufacturers who joined our Mayor Bloomberg's National Salt Reduction Initiative last month.
Heinz ketchup will have about 160 milligrams of sodium per tablespoon beginning this summer, compared to the traditional 190 milligrams. This is the first time they have changed their recipe in forty years. Heinz will rebalance their special secret spices in order to compensate for the lower sodium levels.
