Xtreme Eating Awards 2010

Oh good. Center for Science in the Public Interest has released the Xtreme Eating Awards 2010. These are always fun. Which restaurants were cited for serving up ridiculously oversized portions of fatty entrees this year?

The Winners (partial list)
  • Five Guys Bacon Cheeseburger: 920 calories
  • The Cheesecake Factory Chocolate Tower Truffle Cake: 1,670 calories
  • The Cheesecake Factory Pasta Carbonara with Chicken: 2,500
  • California Pizza Kitchen Tostada Pizza with Steak: 1,440 calories
  • P.F. Chang's Double Pan-Fried Noodles Combo: 1,820 calories
You get the picture. Actually you have to click the source link for photos. We posted only a few of the entrees from the feature article. The full article provides additional artery clogging selections plus the fat grams and sodium content of entrees. Check the source link. Source

I hate to say it but I am not shocked at all by this list. This is part of the reason I only eat out around once a month. I know that there are healthy choices out there, but I usually don't like to count calories when dining out anyway. Cooking at home lets me be in control of the meal and the calories. Plus, cooking from scratch is a lot of work and burns a lot of calories in itself.
