Al Goodman of Ray, Goodman & Brown Dies
Singer Al Goodman of Ray, Goodman & Brown died of heart failure in a New Jersey Hospital on Monday at the age of 67. Goodman and The Moments recorded favorites that include Not on The Outside, Love on a Two-Way Street and Sexy Mama.
The Moments left their label in 1979 but were not allowed to use their name on their new label; so they began to perform under their names Ray, Goodman and Brown and had a major hit with Special Lady.
Ray, Goodman & Brown never stopped performing in concerts. In 2003 they provided the first of several back-up vocals for Alicia Keys recordings. In 2009 Keys and Jay Z recorded a remix of Empire State of Mind sampling the group's Love on a Two-Way Street.
Al Goodman was a native of Mississippi. He is survived by his wife, five children and one grandson.
