NYC Getting Tough on Bed Bugs

Governor Paterson approved new disclosure laws this week that will require New York City landlords to notify prospective tenants whether their building has had bed bugs within the last year. They must account for all units in the building, in addition to the prospect.

Landlords are not the only ones affected by tougher bed bug rules. Health officials must begin to alert parents if bedbugs are found on school premises. They must notify the parents association and the parents of students who come into contact with the affected child or area.

What a difference it would make if New York also banned the sale of refurbished mattresses.
