New Study Contradicts Prior Mammogram Guidelines
The journal Cancer has published results of a study that contradicts the findings of a report published last year which questions the benefit of cancer screening for women younger than fifty. This is an ongoing debate that may never die.
Health organizations are divided on mammogram guidelines. All experts agree that women with a high risk of breast cancer should have annual screenings; but they advance conflicting recommendations for women in their forties who are not high-risk. The most common concern is the high incidence of false positives.
